Boris Novković: Project "Hitmaker" in honour of his father, Djordje Novkovic

All the songs were played by the London's Royal Philharmonic Orchestra   in legendary “Abbey Road Studio One”

Croatia records is recording a unique music project called "Hitmaker", ten great songs by one of the most prolific authors of popular music, Đorđe Novković, who combines a superb artistic heritage with timeless melodies that have marked generations.

All the songs were played by the London Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in the legendary "Abbey Road Studio One", home of some of the most important recordings in the history of music.

We convey impressions from Đorđe's son Boris Novković: "The first published song was the song "Nada" performed by the great, one of the biggest divas, I dare say, of the world scene, Gabi Novak. Unfortunately, it was also her last recorded performance before she left us. She sang the song as if in full force, fascinating and unrepeatable. The songs were recorded in the famous Abbey Road studio in London with our great recording artist and sound master Gogo Martinec under the Croatia Records label, Đorđeva and my parent record company. Mr. Želimir Babogredac, the president of the board, came up with this ingenious idea, which is a special honor to my late father Đorđe, one of the greatest composers of entertainment music in this area and beyond."

List of songs and artists The album contains 10 songs by Đorđe in collaboration with the London Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and conductor Steve Sidwell, who is a Grammy award winner, collaborated with Robbie Williams, Amy Winehouse and who worked on the film Bohemian Rhapsody. The songs are performed by legendary performers with whom Đorđe collaborated.

The order of the songs is not set by importance, but the ladies got priority:

• Zora je - Neda Ukraden

• Nada – Gabi Novak

• Virujen u te – Severina

• Stari Pjer – Mia Dimšić

• Žuta ruža – Željko Bebek

• Ostala si uvijek ista - Mišo Kovač

• Južnjaci – Zdravko Čolić

• Ako me ostaviš - Petar Grašo

• Prva noć sa njom - Vlado Kalember

• Takav je život – Boris Novković

Boris Novković's Personal memories: "Although we were not direct collaborators, I carry Đorđe in my veins, in my blood and with immense pride and indelible memory. That's exactly why I sang the song "Takav je život" by the group Pro Arte, Đorđe's first band. With that song, I have memories of my childhood, of the period when I was 3.4 years old and worshiped the singer of the group Vladimir Savčić Čobi. Even then, I sang with him by sneaking onto the stage and taking the microphone from his hands at their concert in 1971, at a summer performance where I listened to my father and Pro Arte with my mother Ozana. And recording in the famous Abbey road studio is a dream come true. To visit the temple of music, the studio where the Beatles recorded, the studio where many world stars record to this day, is a dream come true for me, but I could not have imagined in my wildest dreams that I would record vocals there and collaborate with the famous London Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. I believe that you will enjoy the new guise of old hits, that most of the songs will bring many back to their childhood, to some beautiful memories. Enjoy "Nada" until the publication of other wonderful songs and interpretations."
