Nearly five decades after the original release, the legendary The Rolling Stones will celebrate their groundbreaking 1976 album, Black and Blue, with a Super Deluxe Box Set, arriving worldwide on November 14, 2025, published by Universal Music.

Originally released in April 1976, Black and Blue marked a brave new chapter for the band, and now it returns in a remixed and expanded package, available in multiple formats. Available as a 5LP vinyl box set and a 4CD box set, both releases include a Blu-ray disc, a 100-page hardcover book and a replica tour poster. A limited 5LP edition on exclusive black and blue marble vinyl, will also be available through select online retailers, in addition to 2-disc and 1-disc formats on vinyl and CD. In addition, a limited 1LP zoetrope vinyl edition will be released. To accompany the reissue, a new music video for "Shame, Shame, Shame" was released.

Directed by renowned Dutch filmmaker Camille Boumans, the video is a collage of Stones history and attitude, blending rare archive photos with hand-drawn animation and a modern style. Known for her award-winning work with global brands and her signature blend of classic and contemporary aesthetics, Bowmans brings fresh energy to the Stones legacy.

"Black and Blue" is the 13th studio album by The Rolling Stones, and the first since the departure of former guitarist Mick Taylor, who was eventually replaced by Ronnie Wood. The recording sessions reportedly served as auditions, with input from guitar greats Harvey Mandel, Wayne Perkins, Jeff Beck and Robert A. Johnson. Eventually, freed from his obligations to The Faces, Ronnie Wood joined Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts and Bill Wyman as a true Rolling Stone, appearing on three tracks. Soon after, Ronnie officially joined the band's American tour, beginning his continuous involvement with the group spanning five decades, with numerous studio and live albums and dozens of Stones' ground-breaking world tours.

In this interview included in the new box set, Ronnie looks back on joining the band in 1976 saying, "That's when I knew that was where I needed to be."

Musically, the album "Black and Blue" showcased the adventurous spirit of The Rolling Stones by infusing reggae, funk, and soul into their signature rock sound. There's the swaggering track 'Hot Stuff', the energetic 'Hand of Fate', the heartwarming ballad and hit single 'Fool to Cry', fan favorite 'Memory Motel', as well as 'Melody', which features the talents of Billy Preston, who contributed heavily to the album.

"Black and Blue" was the band's second self-produced album, credited to the pseudonym "The Glimmer Twins", used by Jagger and Richards for their producer roles. Upon release, the album went to #1 on the US Albums Chart and remained there for four consecutive weeks, immediately achieving platinum status, while reaching #2 in the UK in May 1976.

The 2025 reissue of "Black and Blue" includes a disc of six previously unreleased recordings, including the Jagger/Richards composition "I Love Ladies," plus a high-energy cover of Shirley & Company's "Shame, Shame, Shame." Also included are four incredible Stones instrumental jams from the 1975 sessions, featuring guest guitarists.

A must-read for Stones fans, there's a full concert recording from the band's six-day residency at London's Earls Court Exhibition Centre, where they were joined on stage by Ian Stewart, Billy Preston and Ollie Brown - all of whom contributed to the studio album.

The accompanying Blu-ray disc offers a previously unreleased TV broadcast of the Stones' 1976 concert at Les Abattoirs in Paris, plus Dolby Atmos surround sound mixes of the studio album and the live concert from Earls Court. All audio content is also available in high resolution stereo sound. Rounding out the Super Deluxe Box Set is a 100-page hardcover book with a brand new essay by acclaimed Stones expert Paul Sexton, exclusive photos from the album sessions and tour, and a replica poster from the 1976 Paris concert.
