Bosnian-Herzegovinian band Dubioza Kolektiv has joined forces with singer-songwriter Dino Šaran and released a live version of the song “A joj”, recorded in the beautiful surroundings of the Starry Night Retreat in Lužnica near Visoko.
The video brings an intimate atmosphere, acoustic performance and natural energy that is reminiscent of spontaneous gatherings where music is created in the moment.
The title “A joj” may seem simple, but this short Balkan phrase carries irony, sadness, humor and resignation — all that reflects the spirit of everyday life in our region.
According to the band members, the song came about quite by accident, in Dino Šaran’s apartment, while they were working on another project. “During a break, I played him a piece of music, starting each round with ‘A joj’. That was enough for Dino to click and write the lyrics and melody in an instant. Ever since we became neighbors… he’s been doing all sorts of things with a coffee pot and two guitars,” said Dubioza.

The collaboration with Dino Saran shows how Dubioza is still looking for new ways of expression and never stops combining genres and people. This performance also brings Saran's recognizable lyrical warmth, making the song an emotional and sincere record of a moment. "A joj" may not be a classic dance floor hit, but it has the power to become an anthem of the Balkan spirit - a song that speaks to those who know what a sigh full of emotion means.
