Australian author Tame Impala (Kevin Parker) has released his fifth studio album, Deadbeat, on Columbia Records.
The release of the album was preceded by three singles: Loser, End Of Summer and Dracula, and today, along with the new album, the current single, My Old Ways, whose video is directed by Sam Kristofsky, was released. The video, which contains cinéma vérité material recorded during the recording of the Deadbeat album, can be viewed here.
Composer and producer, Kevin Parker, has sculpted a collection of incredibly powerful tracks that delve deep into potent club psychedelia, something that has served as a vehicle for some of his most personal and inspiring songs in the past. The album was deeply inspired by the bush doof culture and rave scene of Western Australia, reshaping Kevin into a sort of primitive rave performer in the process.
Recorded in various locations over the past few years, Deadbeat was largely completed between Parker's native Fremantle and his Wave House studio in Injindup, Western Australia, earlier this year. Deadbeat sounds like a masterful work of art with a healthy dose of spontaneity that was not previously the case when it comes to this famous perfectionist. This is manifested in a distinct minimalism and sharpness, with musical textures that add a new dimension to the sound as well as a richer and more playful vocal range than ever.

Lyrically, this album channels endless bad news, a self-critical error stuck in a negative feedback loop that should have been resolved long ago. After dealing with the phenomenon of time on the album Slow Rush, on the new album Parker focuses on the nuanced details of emotional everyday life. The songs from the new album emit luxurious tones that lead to a state of euphoria and seem to say that body movements during dancing will self-heal self-care in some kind of bliss, and that reality can wait a little longer.
Kevin Parker has established himself as one of the most influential voices of the last decade, his specialty is transcendent musical landscapes, which change genres and shape a sound that is instantly recognizable and only his. He insists that he plays all the instruments himself, writes his own lyrics, records, mixes, produces. He was nominated for 4 Grammy awards, one of which was won thanks to his collaboration with the group Justice on the Neverender album. In his home country, Australia, he won 13 ARIA awards and has 27 nominations for the same. He won the BRIT for best international band, and was nominated for two Billboard awards. Tame Impala has numerous top ten songs at alternative radio, including two No.1s - Lost In Yesterday and Is It True. The single The Less I Know The Better is part of the Spotify billionaires club with over two billion streams, and has won numerous gold and platinum editions.
Tame Impala has released 4 albums so far: InnerSpeaker, Lonerism, Currents and The Slow Rush, of which the latter is the most successful and has the best ranking on the American and British music charts. As a songwriter and producer, he has collaborated with numerous artists such as: The Weeknd, SZA, Lady Gaga, Travis Scott, Mark Ronson, Gorillaz, Thundercat, Kali Uchis, 070 Shake, Rhianna, Miguel, A$AP Rocky and Dua Lipa.
The new album will soon be on sale here on CD and LP formats.
