After the great success of the previously released singles, the world superstar Lewis Capaldi brings the "Survive" EP. With it, he reveals one of his most intimate and personal songs to date, "The Day That I Die". Released immediately after his acclaimed return to touring for the first time in almost two years, the song "The Day That I Die" quickly became one of the most emotional moments of the concerts, moving fans to tears, as well as Lewis himself. Written during a difficult period that Lewis admitted at the concert that he "wasn't sure if he would survive", the song reveals his most vulnerable side.
Stripped, cathartic and emotionally disarming, "The Day That I Die" stands out as another powerful moment in Capaldi's catalog of power ballads, highlighting his talent for finding beauty in life's most difficult moments. The latest EP release "Survive" features a total of four tracks that Lewis has released since his comeback.
The new single follows on from Capaldi's notable performance on the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge, as well as his unforgettable appearance and guest appearance on The Graham Norton Show, where he appeared alongside Taylor Swift and once again wowed audiences with his signature charm, wit and heartfelt songs.
In the midst of a triumphant tour with more than 200,000 tickets sold, Lewis has also announced his biggest UK and Ireland solo gigs to date. The 2026 summer tour kicks off on June 24 in Dublin (Marlay Park) and includes eight spectacular outdoor shows, including a big concert in London's Hyde Park on July 11.
Lewis' return is already breaking records. His previous single "Survive" hit #1 in the UK Singles Chart, becoming the fastest selling single of 2025 and achieving the highest number of first week sales - ahead of Sabrina Carpenter and Lady Gaga. With a total of six #1 songs in the UK Official Chart, Capaldi ranks alongside pop icons such as Beyoncé, Britney Spears, Drake and Queen, surpassing David Bowie, Katy Perry and The Police. And in the US, the comeback did not go unnoticed - Lewis performed the song "Survive" live on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and Good Morning America.
One of the most emotional moments of the year happened at the Glastonbury Festival, when Lewis returned to the legendary Pyramid Stage. The half-hour set, filled with hits and moving renditions of "Survive" and "Someone You Loved", was met with a huge standing ovation.
The new singles follow a string of shows in Scotland in May, where Lewis Capaldi returned to the stage as a guest of mental health charity CALM, celebrating Mental Health Awareness Week. Without the pressure and high expectations, these performances gave him the space to test the limits of his comfort zone before returning to the limelight, and the move turned out to be a real triumph.
Lewis' latest release, the hit-filled album 'Broken By Desire To Be Heavenly Sent', is his second album to reach #1 in the UK Albums Chart. It featured three singles that topped the Official UK Chart: 'Pointless', 'Wish You The Best' and the platinum-certified 'Forget Me'. On the album, he collaborated with famous authors such as Max Martin (Taylor Swift, The Weeknd), Malay (Lorde, Frank Ocean) and longtime collaborator Phil Plested (James Bay, Bastille).
The album has also received widespread critical acclaim, including from media outlets such as The Guardian, New York Times, NME, Rolling Stone, GQ, Stereogum and many others. It stormed the radio charts, selling an impressive 95,000 copies in its first weekend, outselling nine other top 10 albums at the time combined, as well as the first week sales of his acclaimed debut album Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent.
In April 2023, Netflix released Lewis' honest and raw feature-length music documentary Lewis Capaldi: How I'm Feeling Now, nominated for a GRAMMY Award. The documentary immediately took the #1 spot on Netflix's most-watched content chart, becoming the most-watched film on the platform.
Lewis' subsequent success dates back to 2019 and his multi-million-selling debut album Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent, which catapulted Capaldi from bedroom musician to superstar. Such debut success has rarely been seen, becoming the UK's best-selling album of 2019 and 2020, spawning two UK singles at the very top of the charts, earning him several BRIT Awards and a GRAMMY Award nomination. One of those #1 singles, "Someone You Loved", became a worldwide hit, recently certified ten times platinum, and is also the most streamed song of all time in the UK and the #4 most streamed song in the world.
