Forty years after “Pop Life” became one of the standout singles from Prince’s Around the World in a Day (1985), the song has finally received its first official music video, released on the official Prince channel as part of the 40th-anniversary remaster campaign.
Despite being a major hit at the time (#7 on the US Billboard Hot 100), “Pop Life” never had an official video — largely because Prince in 1985 was already moving quickly through multiple creative projects and was not consistently focused on producing traditional music videos.
The newly released clip offers an entirely new visual interpretation, blending 80s pop-art aesthetics with contemporary animation techniques.

The video is directed by American visual artist Kii Arens, known for his bold retro-psychedelic style and work inspired by classic pop culture.Animation is done by Eben Zboch, with Erin Goedtel, Chris Strouth and Edgar Fernandez credited as creative assistants.
The result is a vibrant, color-rich visual piece that reflects the spirit of Prince’s Paisley Park era. The release is part of Prince Estate’s ongoing effort to give iconic tracks a visual identity they never received during the artist’s lifetime.
