John Fogerty, Grammy winner, Rock & Roll Hall of Famer and Songwriters Hall of Famer, with Concord Records (Universal Music) presents Legacy: the Creedence Clearwater Revival years.
The 20-song collection arrives after he turned 80, and features re-recorded new versions of much-loved songs from his extensive signature catalogue. Among the carefully chosen ones are "Proud Mary", "Fortunate Son", "Have You Ever Seen the Rain" and the song that stands out as the current single of the album - "Bad Moon Rising". Legacy: the Creedence Clearwater Revival years is available on vinyl, CD and all music platforms. For the first time in his career, Fogerty fully owns the rights to his impressive catalog that he created for the group CCR.
The "Legacy" release represents a coming-of-age moment, a turning point where the painstakingly reclaimed rights now come alive with new recordings made on his own terms. Co-produced by the musician and his son Shane Fogerty, with executive production by Julie Fogerty, the album simultaneously channels the rawness of the original and brings the joy of new triumph. With renewed energy and purpose, Fogerty brings freshness to all those good old songs that continue to define American rock and roll.
"For most of my life I couldn't dispose of the songs I wrote," Fogerty declared. "Everything changes now that I've managed to get them back. 'Legacy' is my way of celebrating that – playing them on my terms, with the people I love."
Son Shane plays on the album, as well as brother Tyler Fogerty, and Matt Chamberlain, Bob Malone, Bob Glaub and Rob Stone also joined. The esteemed Bob Clearmountain is behind the mix, and he goes to great credit as he is responsible for making these important pieces of music history now available in Atmo technology for the first time.
With the family band involved, this project is deeply personal to Fogerty. He was inspired in 2023, when after decades of legal battles he achieved his lifelong goal of regaining ownership of his own songs. By recording new versions, he not only celebrated his first victory, but also strengthened his relationship with his family, with whom he created "Legacy".

"I'm 80 years old," says John. "With this album, I'm giving a gift to myself - and at the same time I'm giving the same gift to my fans."
In anticipation of the album, Fogerty announced on social networks, after which he revealed the music video for "Born On The Bayou", while, immediately upon release, "Legacy" was praised by major media such as Rolling Stone, NYMag / Vulture, The Guardian, The LA Times, UNCUT, Billboard and others.
"Bad Moon Rising," singled out as the album's lead single, has long been one of Fogerty's most recognizable songs—with more than a billion streams, it's now one of the longest-running rock anthems of the last half century. On the new album, Fogerty returns to the song with the same power and conviction that first made it a classic, now powered by the energy of a family collaboration.
The release of the "Legacy" compilation crowns a remarkable year for American Music Honors-nominated Fogerty. Following a string of performances at JazzFest, Glastonbury, SXSW and the Hollywood Bowl, Fogerty marked his birthday with sold-out concerts at New York's Beacon Theatre, and among many accolades, the Associated Press described the performance as performed "with teenage glee", while Mojo Magazine declared the Glastonbury performance "the very definition of 'everything but a hit'." This September, Fogerty will be honored with the Troubadour Award, while a tour is planned for the rest of the year, with new dates still being announced.
